Lessons Learned From The Election

We, as entrepreneurs and small business owners or anyone trying to make money online, can learn lessons from the election.

Sure we all knew that the one with the most money can always win. Big money can always outspend the little guy who is trying to make money online and offline for that matter. So if you are in competition with the big guys, you have to think unconventionally. You have to think outside the box...not the way it has always been done before in order to get the upper hand and create your business a place in the marketplace. Some will be more successful than others. It depends on how big a piece of the pie do you want. For some a small piece would be sufficient. Others want a bigger piece and some like Obama want an even bigger piece. Remember though, the top spot requires big responsibility and someone will always be trying to take that spot.

The BIGGEST reason why Barack Obama will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States on January 20, 2009 can be summed up in 2 words--social marketing. That's right... online marketing. It is lessons learned from the election.

Obama campaigned to the social marketing crowd amazingly which generated an enormous amount of support from online marketing.

Just check out these amazing statistics...

--Since the conventions, blog posts mentioning Obama outnumbered those referencing McCain by more than 3 to 1.

--Obama's number of MySpace friends grew steadily over the past few months until election day, Obama had almost 4 times the number of friends McCain had

--Twitter stats are even more jaw dropping. Obama had nearly TWENTY FOUR times the amount of followers that McCain had.

Yes, it is UNBELIEVABLE! There are other usages as well.

Obama's tactic was mastered to target the crowd he wanted and hit them square in the eye on social networking. He proved that the digital age is here. It is lessons learned from the election that all of us business owners or those making money online should take heed.

So what does this all mean?

Simple--like I said, social marketing is now a factor that cannot be ignored. It can move mountains. Just think it changed the course of history ... it changed the political climate in America ... just think what it could do for your business. Just think about having a 850 or 900 pound gorilla staring you face to face. That's the power of the Internet.

Now Obama didn't just put up a few remarks or pull a few online supporters together. He had a plan ... a well constructed plan that probably took years to create. It wasn't some half baked plan thrown together overnight... it was a painstaking plan and executed precisely.

And that, my entrepreneurial friends, are the lessons learned from the election that I want you to realize... you can prosper from home... you can prosper in business. You can do it!

No matter what business you are in, you need a solid, proven work plan for getting from point A to point B. It may have been a while since you looked at your plan. Look at it, revise it and work it. Online marketing is here to stay.

Without it, you're basically flying by the seat of your pants and 99.9% of the time you end up crashing and burning.

You'll never reach the heights of extreme prosperity until you get serious... get busy... and get a real success plan...then you need to work your plan as in lessons learned from the election.
